Most tourists just pass through Ligourio on their way to Epidaurus, not noting the impressing Byzantine churches to see in the town. The little church of Agios Ioannis Eleimon (Saint John the Merciful) is very easy to find on the right side of the road from Nafplio. The nave of the church is dated to the late 11th century, the rest is about 100 years younger. |

What is most remarkable are the numerous spolia used in the masonry, all coming from the Sanctuary of Asklepios. |
